It didn't always work out, but it was refreshing to see. I expect a return to bidding stupidity in the near future.
Not that all was well on bidders' row today. Question: What would you bid for a five-night stay in an ocean-view balcony room at an upscale boutique hotel on Catalina Island, with continental breakfast included, and access to a private beach cabana? Oh, and they take you there on a HELICOPTER.
Probably a little more than this, right?
The actual price was $3,172. Whoops.
Abbey (far right) gets a pass for her wise bid, of course, and her antics made for an interesting beginning to the show. Here she is giving Drew Carey the "We are not worthy" treatment:
And here's Abbey starring in today's episode of "White Girls Breakdancing on National Television":
Pricing game WIN
We were 0-for-4 on pricing games today (I'm counting $1,500 on Plinko as a loss) and it looked like we were heading for five straight defeats when Robert had to get the last digit in the price of the Toyota Yaris LE exactly right in Lucky Seven.
Well, he did it. With an unusual number, too.
Well done, Robert.
And in case you're wondering who that other guy is, it's Ivan Lalinde, host of the Colombian version of The Price is Right. The connection there being that Manuela the model is also Colombian (although she recently gained U.S. citizenship, as Drew Carey informed us. Long live the American Dream!)
Speaking of Manuela and Lucky Seven, The Price is Right really needs to do something about the lighting for the games where models drive the car on stage. Here's what Manuela normally looks like:
And here she is in the car:
Daniel Goddard, why are you here? ***
CBS soap opera star and The Price is Right male model trailblazer Daniel Goddard made three appearance in today's show.
How dare you steal Rockin' Amber's thunder, Daniel! |
*** - This is a rhetorical question. I know why Daniel is here: the cross-promotion for "The Young and the Restless." And women need their eye candy, too, as evidenced by this tweet featuring a rather tenuous sexual innuendo:
@mamak_2ladies @DanielGoddard can pull my strings anytime

Other observations from today's episode
* Does anyone ever earn more than three Plinko chips anymore?
* One of my favorite moments in any show is when Drew laughs at the items in pricing games. It's usually because he still has the sense of humor of a 12-year old - as evidenced by Friday's Dutch oven incident - or because the items are just so preposterous.
It was the latter, today, as Eric had to guess the price of cutting mats during Plinko.
Yes, cutting mats.
* If you're in the front row and you're not going to come on down, you might as well make a funny face.
We see you, Jeanne. We see you.
