There were some tough games today: 1/2 Off, Let 'Em Roll and The Race Game among them.
Contestants didn't exactly cover themselves in glory, though. We'll start in Lucky Seven, where Jennifer, after being given the '1' to start, went with '6' as the second number. Almost as a rule, if the first number is a '1' you have to go with '8' next. The Price is Right just doesn't do $16K cars. Go with the '8' and, at worst, you're giving Drew just $1, giving you $6 for the next three digits.
Losing those $2 right off the bat is a killer. Jennifer needed to get the last number right as a result. She didn't.
Then we have McKell on The Race Game. Admittedly, this is a tough game, given that you have to get the right price for four items, and you're racing against the clock to do it.
With the clock running against you, why on Earth are you looking back to the crowd?
Pointless celebrity appearances
Celebrity appearances on The Price is Right generally bring nothing to the show as is, but if you're going to do it, at least bring on somebody with stage presence. JR Martinez dancing with Gwendolyn two weeks ago was kinda cool. Curtis Stone last week at least had some enthusiasm.
Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin brought nothing to the table today. Visibly nervous on stage, she was brought out three separate times, including the Showcase (during which you could very clearly see her eyes moving across the teleprompter).
Heck, I'd rather have seen Daniel Goddard.
Contestant shenanigans
I don't know if she meant to do it, but here's Markita doing her best The Price is Right model impersonation while Manuela shows off the ring up for bid on bidders' row:
Markita was the best of a struggling group of contestants today. After winning $500 cash after getting the exact price ($2,200) of that ring, she went 3-for-3 on 1/2 Off, giving her a 50-50 chance of winning the $10,000 in cash. It was down to Box 3 and Box 8. She went with 3 and... you already know how it ends.
And here's William doing some sort of cowboy dance while coming on down:
Drew's disdain
Speaking of 1/2 Off, Drew Carey had another bit of disgust at one of the items. Today, it was the frozen treat maker.
As I've said before, I always enjoy it when this happens.
Bidders' row FAIL
Joan was the last contestant to join bidders' row, and therefore bid first on the GPS system. Her bid was $500. Here's what followed:
Really? No one is going to go over $500? And you're all going to bid so close to the $500 that you have almost no shot of winning?
Joan won, of course, and went all the way for a Showcase win, earning a trip to San Jose and a Jeep. That trip to San Jose includes tickets to the USA Olympic gymnastics trials, where Nastia Liukin will presumably turn in a better performance than she did today.
And, finally...
While we didn't have any pricing game winners, at least we had the return of this guy after a no-show Friday:
It's the singing Hoveround guy! Everyone loves the singing Hoveround guy.
