The Price is Right - 4/13/12 Episode

I've been saying for the last couple days that The Price is Right was setting up for a massive $80,000 win in Plinko today, furnished by Publishers' Clearing House.

Well, I was wrong.

You may have noticed that Stephen let go of the chip well before Rachel had set up the $80,000 placard, and that he had a rather... active stage demeanor.

This was his modus operandi for his entire appearance on the show.

Here's Stephen boppin' around on stage for no apparent reason while earning his Plinko chips:

Even Rachel, probably the friendliest of the models, was trepidacious:

Stephen rebounded from his 0-fer in Plinko to win on the wheel and advance to the Showcase...

Somehow, the magical ride continued all the way through to the end:

Folks, those are not Stephen's and Patrick's bids. That's how far off they were on their bids. Patrick, who apparently hasn't traveled much, bid $18,000 on three trips: Cabo San Lucas, Borneo (!) and Australia (!!!). $18K? Really??

The scene from both gentlemen just seconds later says it all:

Most on the Twitter-verse were not impressed:

@hay_k_47 Stephen try not smoking crack before going on the price is right

@the_orig_13055 This guy on the price is right <<<< #Creep

@Bigshoobs People get way to excited on the price is right. This dude just keeps dancing around and yelling

@Tity2Nipples Buddy on the Price is Right must really gotta pee.. He hasn't been still all show

@debbiecakes209 This guy on Price is Right is moving all weird. he looks like a crackhead.

@ladyKAYmahogany What's wrong with this man on the Price is Right? Think he licked matchbox cars as a kid #leadpaint

@ANDERSONshaun "Welcome to The Price Is Right, here's your ugly yellow nametag and hit of cocaine."

Stephen did have at least one fan, though:

@apassas03 One of the greatest price is right episodes ever. Stephen you are one of my favorite contestants ever.

Stage antics
Today was clearly a day for real characters on the Price is Right.

Patrick, the first contestant off bidders' row, decided to put on a dance show:

(I'm a little sloppy with my photography today. Sorry.)

And Rebecca the improv teacher followed suit immediately after:

Patrick, incidentally, won $1,000 by getting a dollar on the wheel. He then proceeded to make various animal-like sounds:

George Gray gets some love
At some point, I'm going to dedicate an entire blog post to announcer George Gray. Like Rod Roddy during The Price is Right of my youth, George is the underrated backbone of the show.

You may have noticed a picture on the back of Patrick's shirt above.

"It's a George Gray kinda day."

George appreciated the gesture.

Pricing game WIN
Of course, they might as well have just given Patricia the cookware and kitchen appliances.

Is there an easier game on The Price is Right then "Magic Number"? All you have to do is pick a number - any number - between the prices of the two prizes, and you get both.

And when you get a range like this to work with...

Why bother even playing the game?

Bidders' row comedy
I really enjoyed this exchange contestant Ryan and Drew:

And he's even wearing a Cleveland Browns t-shirt. It's a true bro-mance.

Bidders' row FAIL
When I started this blog two weeks ago, I thought the occurrence of a "first four" contestant not getting on stage was a rare one.

It's happened almost every episode lately, with Kaelyn today's unfortunate victim:

One last thing...
...that I couldn't even bother to take video of because there was so much else going in this episode: Pearl, in the second wheel round, got "the treatment" from the crowd after her spin didn't go all the way around.

Booing weak contestants on The Price is Right is one of my favorite traditions.

  1. Was Kaelyn's (that's a name!?) bidding strategy sound? That would be the ultimate injustice: Not getting on stage with reasonable bids while some of the morons you've featured lately get to the showcase.

  2. I don't remember too many horrendous bids on her part, and she was victimized by at least one moron who went about $500 over the previous highest bid and won anyway. Such is life on The Price is Right, unfortunately.
